I watched a 2001 Japanese drama called Antique recently. It had quirky likable characters and delicious-looking cakes appeared in every episode. The plot revolved around the four men who worked in a cake shop called Antique. There was the former boxer who loved cakes, the talented baker who was afraid of the fairer sex, the owner who disliked sweets and loved spicy food and the tall and silent “shadow” who was the owner’s bodyguard and cousin. Each episode was about a customer and their story involving a cake from the cake shop. However, I could not really recommend this show to anybody. The first three episodes were really slow and boring while the finale felt like a waste of time. For a drama series that was only 11 episodes long, it meant that one-third of it was not worth watching.
